19 Sep Lecture, harvest festival and new profile magazine
Dear reader!
The Friends Weekend was a great success for those who had invited friends to experience Ranum Efterskole. The former students, who act as "young guides", helped to organise a really nice weekend with both thrills and fun.
The week has offered plenty of activity in the profile subjects and a high tempo in the academic subjects. It is positive to see that the pupils are doing well in lessons, even if many were tired after a long weekend.
Last Tuesday we had a visit from Anders from TravelApe.dk and he once again gave a terrific lecture on personal development, self-confidence and self-esteem. There was really good feedback from the students afterwards and the image of climbing his inner mountain is clear to most!
On Thursday evening we had a harvest party with a beautifully decorated canteen, straw everywhere and riding on two big rodeo bulls. The students were super dressed up and went all out. As one student put it "a little hillbilly is in all of us!"

Friday also featured a lecture by blogger Nikoline Just. She has become a role model for many young entrepreneurs and thus she follows up well on Anders' lecture on seizing the opportunity and not letting the law of janteloven stand in the way. See more at http://www.justnikoline.dk/
On Friday, all staff members will set off on a staff trip to Læsø. We will talk about the future and get a good shake-up, as well as follow the headmaster's roots back in time.
The new profile magazine is out. In the newspaper you can read the news about Denmark's first international high school education, which from 2014 will be possible at Ranum Efterskole College. We have been working on this project for a long time and it is a natural extension of our focus on preparing students for a global and changing world! The programme is built around 2 years of afterschool and is also expected to attract foreign secondary school students to Ranum. Read more in the profile newspaper.
The new profile magazine for the choice of culture profile in the 2nd term is also ready. It contains a wide range of news. Several students have been very active in the creation of the many subjects and it is a great pleasure to see the commitment they are already showing. It is not certain that all subjects will be created and it will be very exciting to follow the choices until 2 October. There will be a detailed briefing for students on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday evening. The election programme will be presented to parents on Saturday.
In the coming week we have no classes on Mondays. This means that the students come in on Monday after 18.00 and instead we have added an activity on Saturday, where they are Parents and siblings day at Ranum Efterskole.
The wakeboarders are looking forward to inaugurating the new course in Rønbjerg.
Saturday is the inauguration of the new Wakeboard course in Rønbjerg at Dayz Resorts. The track has been created in cooperation with the afterschool and we will use it as the home track for Waterperformance. The inauguration will take place at 14.30 at the lake and there will be a demonstration by professional wakeboarders and test rides.
We're announcing some quirky messages from the heart this week!
Sunday is the Open House and we hope that you will help spread the word so that new students will join us in the future.
We look forward to seeing as many people as possible at the Open House!
Yours sincerely and have a great weekend!
