04 Oct Parents' Day, Open House and new profile subjects
Dear reader!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by Ranum Efterskole this weekend for the Parents' and Siblings' Day on Saturday and for the Open House on Sunday. We once again broke the record for the number of guests in one weekend. The students received a lot of praise for their efforts and guided tours, so overall it has been an energetic weekend, which, however, also cost a lot of effort from everyone. Registration for the coming school year is going very well and it is now also possible to do it electronically on the website.
Students have been preparing this week for the first big profile trip. The drama team has gone to workshops and musicals in London. The Sailors and Dive and Plunge leave for Croatia and Norway respectively early Saturday morning. Adventure heads for the Swedish forests and lakes on Saturday morning, while Guide and Event fly to Italy on Sunday, where the Music, Media, Dance, Visual Design and Street Performance teams also take in Berlin's creative environments. Horse riding will again challenge the Austrian Alps and in the late afternoon, some 70 divers will fly to Turkey. Water Performance travels to Turkey and Gastronomy sets course for Copenhagen to experience a gastronomic world and even organise a restaurant in Mellemfolkeligt Samvirkes premises for just under 100 guests. Many exciting experiences await the students and, first and foremost, they will get a great finale to their preparations, as well as a unique experience of travelling in an interest group, meeting other young people and getting close to their teachers along the way.
The choice for the 2nd period profile subject has been completed and the following cultural profile subjects have been created:
USA 1 - Miami -
USA 2 - California High School Stay
Performance - Morocco
Europe tour
Winter sports + Malaysian guest students
Japan youth & culture
China - Beijing Cultural Tour
South Korea - between borders
Nicaragua sustainability & culture
Cambodia Culture and diving
Peru - in the footsteps of the Incas
Nepal 1 Friendship schools
Nepal 2 Cultural Trek
Nepal 3 Himalaya trekking
Cultural profile subjects Cambodia, Peru, Morocco, South Korea are all brand new cultural profile subjects, which are now being shaped jointly by teachers and pupils. The content of the subjects is centred around the theme of Globalisation and World Citizenship. Students will encounter many exciting themes in religion, history, cultural traditions and everyday life in their encounters with other cultures and young people. Several classes also have a common theme of interest, such as Morocco Performance, which brings together Western gymnastics and performance culture with African culture. The new cultural profile subjects start in week 44 and both pupils and teachers can look forward to a fantastic and exciting joint programme, culminating in the expeditions in weeks 3-4.
Family and Siblings Day was a really nice day with plenty of time for both contact teacher talks, presentations on the cultural profile subjects in the 2nd period, and lots of activity. Parents and siblings also attended a big gathering in the Multihallen, where everyone danced and sang together.
New wakeboard track in Rønbjerg! In the afternoon, students and teachers from Water Performance inaugurated the new wakeboarding course in Rønbjerg at Dayz Ferie Resort. The facility was built at the request of Ranum Efterskole and is Water Performance's new home course.
Afterschool Day was a hit! On Sunday, students and teachers, as well as many former students, were ready to welcome interested guests to the Afterschool Day.
The new bouldering wall was inaugurated in the afternoon and at the same time we inaugurated the renovated Martial Arts room. The new activity room has been given the name "Sweat" - partly after the many sweats that have been given over the years in the old gymnasium and of course after the many challenges that have now been added to the room, which will certainly give sweat on more than the forehead. The string was cut by the student who came up with the idea for the boulder wall in the spring, and who can now train every day on a beautiful wall. The bouldering wall was designed and built by the company Abekatten in Aalborg.
Ranum Efterskole College - was also presented at the Afterschools Day. Many chose to spend half an hour hearing about the new offer to take an international secondary education at Ranum Efterskole. Many afterschools have started lines with 1-5 Cambridge subjects, but none can offer to choose from 12 different subjects, and from 2014 you can also choose an AS and A level course during your afterschool stay, which makes it stand out for 2nd and 3rd years. G. And which gives access to universities all over the world.
Visit from Thailand. The 15 Thai guest students, who will experience Ranum Efterskole, have arrived today and are accommodated in their rooms, together with the Danish students. A month of study trip to Copenhagen, visit by a Danish student during the autumn holidays and normal Danish after-school life for 14 days await them.
In week 42 there is an autumn holiday and many students don't land until the weekend leading up to the holidays. The school office is open every weekday 9-15 and we are happy to show you around - even during the holidays. On Sunday 20 October at 2pm there will also be a tour and presentation about the school's values and many academic and activity offerings. Registration on the website.
Best regards and have a great weekend!

We participated in the North Jutland Championships with a boys and a girls team, and they did very well. Talent, will and camaraderie negated the training advantage of the sports...
