25 Jun Farewell week and happy summer holidays
Dear reader,
There's a saying that you shouldn't cry that it's over, but rejoice that it happened. It makes sense, but saying goodbye to your kids will never be easy, and multiply that by 400+ and it's almost unbearable.
The closing week already started on Sunday afternoon with "fetching" and launching event for parents and siblings.
The last rehearsals ended on Tuesday, when all students and teachers went on a Livorno trip. The trip took place both by ferry and in super fast RIB boats.
The sun shone from a cloudless sky and there was plenty of time for both adventure and fun on the beautiful island.
Wednesday
On Wednesday, the students were beaten by the teachers in football. True to tradition, the teachers were in a festive mood and fought the students off the pitch in the best sporting spirit. In the evening was the last contact group day and many visited their contact teacher at home. At night, the students were woken up for a horror night race, where the teachers took revenge for the students' night terrors during the year.
Watch the whole exciting match on our youtube channel or watch it below.
Thursday
Thursday was clean-up and record day, as well as St. The witch flew despite the pouring rain, and all evening there was fun and memory book writing.
Friday
Friday the sun shone again and so did the school after the big main cleaning in the houses. Friday evening we had a really nice gala party in the Culture House. The teachers served a 3 course menu and there were really nice student performances and singing. The evening was rounded off with the biggest award show of the year, where both pupils and especially the teachers unfolded on the slack line in the ballroom.
The last night was both very long and far too short. There was writing in the memory books and weeping in all the houses until the early morning.
Saturday
On Saturday morning, all parents and siblings came to pack their cars and the school year ended with a beautiful Dimission on the big lawn in front of the main building. About 1500 of us gathered on the lawn to send the 400 youngsters off into the world with speeches, songs and a tearjerking musical number by Simon and Anne, as well as a student speech by Laura Emilie. The President of Rotary Løgstør chose the Comrade of the Year, chosen by the students, and the award went deservedly to Asta Sofie W.Tjellesen from Copenhagen. Prizes were also awarded for the highest average of the year in the 9th and 10th grades, both in the general and international lines, as well as in the AS line.
See all the photos from the Dinner.
At the end, all students were presented with their exam and graduation certificates, as well as their school photo. While parents and siblings gathered for lunch, Ranum Efterskole College year 12 danced one last time in a chain around the Tree of Life in the schoolyard, and was finally symbolically embraced by all the teachers. Huge hugs were given and the Tree of Life was watered with tears from the eyes of the youth, who were once again looking into a life outside the REC community. Watch the video with the year 2015-16 in pictures set to their own song "Until we meet again".
The school is completely empty now. We have planned the next school year, with 430 pupils starting on 7 August. Summer school starts on Saturday for over 65 students from all over the world. For 4 weeks they will learn English, science, Danish culture and try a lot of profile subjects, as well as going on a field trip to Copenhagen.
The school office will be closed in weeks 28-29, but we will answer at info@ranumefterskole.dk.
Thanks for a great school year and happy summer holidays to you all!
Have a great summer!
Best regards!
