Gold for Ranum & Kulturfags graduation

Dear reader,

The week started with a group of students taking part in a big indoor football tournament on Friday, and on Saturday a busload went to the Danish Fundraiser in Copenhagen, where they helped create a good atmosphere in the TV studio. On Sunday, about 70 students stayed up for the Super Bowl, but still managed to get through Monday's school program.

On Tuesday afternoon we held a mid-term evaluation in all contact groups with individual talks with each pupil followed by a social time in the contact group. Otherwise, the week has included a number of tasks in connection with the academic subjects and the end of the cultural subjects.

Award for Ranum student

On Friday evening, several boys and girls teams participated in the Jutlander Cup indoor football. The teams did well and the boys won gold in their pool. Shirwa Ismail Jama Isse was voted the best player on the pitch.

Cultural Studies Completion

The cultural subjects are now ready to present their experiences and dissemination projects to parents and siblings on Sunday. During the week, the teams have worked in very different ways on the post-processing.
Australia challenged New Zealand to rugby in the snow, and it was quite a contrast to the southern summer.

Snow dresses Ranum

When the wind blows from the east, it gets really cold in Ranum. Our foreign Asian students are finding this out, but even though they are freezing in the winter darkness, they are enjoying the snow.

Cultural studies presentations Sunday 14-18

Sunday is the school day and all students participate in a presentation of their cultural subjects to families and other students. The programme starts in the afternoon with refreshments in the dining hall followed by presentations for ½ of the teams at 3pm and the other teams at 4pm. Before the programme ends, there will be an opportunity to watch a summary of films and pictures from most of the trips in the Cinema. Dinner is also available and we hope that everyone has a great afternoon with many impressions from the students' great cultural journeys.

At the Workshop in Dubai

Joakim and Carl are at the ICEF workshop in Dubai to make connections in the MENA region. Besides attending the big fair, they have also visited a number of international schools and Danish and foreign expat families.

In the coming week, new profile subjects will be launched, including E-sports, E-music, and Nordic Challenge. Wednesday to Thursday is Friends' Day, where students have invited friends from home who are on winter break in week 7. We don't have a holiday, but the students can have a great afterschool day and evening with their friends here at the school. We will repeat the Friends Day in week 8 from Thursday to Friday.

Tuesday: Welcome to stand-up comedian and author Sanne Søndergaard

On Tuesday afternoon, we have invited stand-up comedian and author Sanne Søndergaard to give a lecture for all students. Sanne Søndergaard's talk is about being offended by each other and ourselves, and about the choices we make in life. Because no one is an island - or even a peninsula - and therefore we are always vulnerable to the influence of others. And Sanne shows that even the heaviest themes can be communicated with humour, openness and honesty. Sanne Søndergaard has written the novels: "Kære Dødsbog", "Proforma", "Hell man" and the autobiography "Solo - med mit køn på slæb", which she also gives lectures based on.

We look forward to a great week and to seeing parents and siblings on Sunday for Cultural Studies presentations and fun.

Best regards and have a great weekend!
