04 Mar Dance and gamer weekend, theatre concert and Boatshow
Dear reader,
Dance and gamer weekend, theatre concert and Boatshow with Youth Afternoon and lecture by Emil Eriksen. The week has flown by and there have been a lot of activities both in the academic subjects and in the profile subjects.
During the weekend, we were visited by more than 100 dancers and the whole school was filled with workshops and on Sunday we ended with the teams showing their choreographies to each other. We had also invited former Ranum dance students and they, together with our current dance team, helped to create a really good energy for the many guests. Our own dance team for the Hip Hop International competition gave a rehearsal of their show on Friday, which they will perform this weekend in Randers.
Gamerweekend
While there was dancing all day and evening, a lot of people - mostly boys - played e-sports all night. The new e-sports room was inaugurated in style and is working very well.
Visit from Aarhus Music and Theatre Production School.
On Thursday we were visited by a group of very creative young people from Aarhus, they are training in stage, light and performance, and delivered a great performance for our students.
Boat show and youth afternoon.
More than 150 students and water sports teachers from Ranum participated in the Youth Afternoon at Boatshow 2017 in Fredericia, together with about 300 afterschool students. The whole fair was buzzing with young people, who for an afternoon put sailing dreams on the agenda. The highlight was certainly a great lecture by Emil Eriksen, skipper of Havanna, known from the TV2 series "Course to distant shores".
Emil captivated all 400 listeners with a lively and afterschool-relevant talk about life on board a sailing boat in a close community. He spiced up his presentation with super nice film clips and lots of great pictures. The lecture was sponsored by Ranum and Oure Kostgymnasium, and Emil is a really good role model for young people who want to put sailing on their life schedule and set their own course into the unknown. We naturally invited him to be a friend of Ranum and become a teacher at the school one day 🙂
Visit to Danes Worldwide
For the first time, Ranum Efterskole College officially visited Danes Worldwide to discuss cooperation opportunities and expand knowledge of our respective organizations. Danes Worldwide's secretary general Anne Marie Dalgaard was presented with a Himmerland recipe book with Limfjord dishes, among others created by our former chefs Jimmi Pedersen and Lars Jeppsen. The cooperation with Danes Worldwide may in the long term give our future students the opportunity to receive distance learning in Danish in preparation for their stay in Ranum and Denmark.
Tonight, the Student Party Committee and the Parents' Council are holding the 3rd Student Party of the year, and all week the school has been buzzing with excitement and joy. We hope that everyone has a super good and safe student party.
In the coming week, the focus will be on the academic programmes and the profile subjects. Temperatures should soon creep up to double digits, so spring can take hold and the boats can get on the water. The following weekend is Casino Weekend and the chance to live out the Las Vegas dreams.
Best regards and have a great weekend!
