Due to technical difficulties, the newsletter went out later than usual.
Dear reader,
Thank you to all parents, siblings, grandparents and students who helped make this a great family weekend.
It has been a great 1TP5Week with the headmaster holding a reception in honour of a 5×10 year and the school's 13th birthday, Tuesday evening we enjoyed a super concert with 4 students from the Jutland Conservatory of Music in Aalborg.
On Thursday, the sailors participated in a race and became 2nd best efterskole. On Friday, REC students were honoured for the 1st prize and the talent prize in the Johannes V. Jensen Museum's Nobel Prize competition. Jensen Museum's Nobel Prize competition, and then we ended the week with a Family Weekend, where the students presented their profile subjects, showed pictures and films from their recent travels. In the coming week, there will be written tests in Danish, English and maths from Tuesday.
REC students win Nobel Prize competition
Yesterday, two of our students - Simone Holm and Cecilie Friis - won the 1st prize and the talent prize in the Johannes V. Jensen Museum's Nobel Prize competition. Jensen Museum's "Nobel Prize Competition". Their winning short stories with the poetic titles "The Love Cat" and "Butterfly" can soon be read on the museum's website.
The other winners were from Ranum Skole and Farsø Skole. Congratulations to all of them!
Birthday Reception
Thank you to all students, colleagues and guests for singing, giving and visiting on the occasion of the Headmaster's 50th birthday and the school's 13th anniversary. It was a great day with morning singing, cream puffs, cold cuts, giant brownie cake and layer cake and over 130 guests for a lovely reception in the afternoon.
The big fish buffet
On Wednesday, the kitchen surprised with a fantastic fish buffet that made many of the students' eyebrows lift in fascination. See all the photos below:
Concert from Jysk Music Conservatory
On Wednesday evening, four talented young musicians and students at Jysk Musikkonservatorie played a concert based on their own interpretation of songs from the Danish Folk Songbook. At first glance, this may sound a bit far-fetched, but it was a really lovely and captivating experience, with the students supporting the band and singing along to most of the songs. They can come again!
Cape sailing
During the week we participated in a race for other afterschools where we fought our way into the finals. What we didn't win in medals we got in really good fun, friendship and togetherness. It's not the winning but the process leading up to, during and after the "matches" that develops and changes the person.
Staff Christmas gift redeemed
On Friday evening, most of the employees and the board travelled to Aalborg to redeem this year's community Christmas present. First we had a nice dinner at restaurant Flammen and then we enjoyed an impressive ABBA concert show. It has become a tradition that we give each other a cosy community experience for Christmas.
Parents and siblings day on 28-29 April.
Successful family day
The family day is over and it has been a very nice evening and day in good company. The different profile subjects showed their travel films and pictures, and in several teams parents and siblings were also challenged to kayak, sail boats, dance, make music, film and food.
Written exams start Tuesday
Sports coach warms up students for exams
On Monday, sports motivator and coach Thomas Slosarich was invited to talk to students about how they can improve their performance in exams by taking themselves seriously and preparing themselves mentally and psychologically. Thomas captivated over 400 non-sport1TP5 students and showed that parallels can be drawn between our world and the sports world when focusing on personal performance. We have warmed up and are ready for a great 1st week of the Danish tests!
Best regards and have a nice weekend.
