16 Aug First week at REC
Time flies and the first week at Ranum is already over. Life as an after-school student is in full swing, and we have had a fantastic start. This also means that the first newsletter of the year is now being sent out, and you can follow all the stories from afterschool life at Ranum.
If you are a new reader of the newsletter, welcome - and thank you for following. The newsletter is published every Friday, and it contains good afterschool stories, practical information and a whole lot more.
In short, you get a status of life as a student, told in text, pictures and videos. Enjoy reading!
First day of school
Many of you parents reading this may have been present on Sunday. For those of you who were not here, we can report that the day was extremely successful. Students were settled in, met the contact groups and roommates. In most cases for the first time.
In the video below you can get a feel for the atmosphere on the first day of school. Anticipation, excitement and a little bit of uncertainty about the year about to begin.
You can see all the photos taken on the first day of school, by going to the gallery here.
Tour of Rønbjerg
One of the shaking activities we went through in intro week was a trip to Rønbjerg. Rønbjerg Harbour is a place that especially the sailing students will spend a lot of time at. It is our maritime base, where the small Ranum fleet is located. As something completely new, we have set up a house where we stay when we have sailing.
The wakeboard track is also located in Rønbjerg at Landal Rønbjerg, which is a holiday centre.
The contact groups were given a lot of tasks and games to complete, and as you can see from the pictures, we had a great day together,
Colour party
Tonight is a colour party, where all contact groups have been given different colours to dress in, and then they have to set a table in the colours representing the group. It's always a nice evening to talk about what happened during the first week at Ranum. What has been experienced? What has surprised you? What are you looking forward to?
It's an evening of fun, and we're really looking forward to seeing how the community unfolds.
Common picture
On Wednesday we took a joint photo with the whole new cohort present. When everyone is together, it becomes clear how diverse and unique a community the school is.
First cleaning
It was time to clean the rooms, for which the students received an instructional video that will hopefully be used throughout the year. It makes a huge difference to the afterschool year if the rooms are clean. So we help each other with that.
In the bathrooms vinegar is used. It doesn't smell so good, but it's effective.
Vilsted Lake race and Family Day
Saturday 14 September is the Vilsted Sø race. The race takes place in and around Ranum in beautiful surroundings. The day combines a fresh run with the family, and we encourage everyone to participate. There are nice medals for all participants and a really nice day is guaranteed. You can read more about the event on Vilsted Sø Løb's website here: https://www.vilstedsoeloeb.dk
Registration is on the School Plan, so please see the notice there. The school pays the entry fee, but it is important that you register anyway - also for the family day, which is at the same venue.

Events next week
This weekend there is a profile day and the House Cup. Profile Day is the final start of the first term and it's here that students get busy getting oriented and really aware of what's going to happen on their first journey. Many take the bus around to different activities and otherwise plan what the profile subject will include. There is room for dreaming and for students to give input to the subject.
At the House Cup, the different houses compete against and with each other. The focus is on strengthening the community, getting to know each other better and having fun.
That's all for the first newsletter. Remember, you can always follow us on social media.
At Youtube we regularly upload films from everyday life.
At Facebook and Instagram we mainly share pictures and afterschool stories.
Remember to register for the vilsted lake race
