25 Oct End of profile, travel news & new podcast
Dear reader.
Welcome to this week's news from Ranum Efterskole College. We look back on a start-up week after both the profile trip and the autumn holidays, and it has offered a wealth of after-school activities.
It can be difficult to find your way around all the activities we do during such a week. Futsal, chemistry cafe, Mekdes concert, Year Book planning, bingo bango, pop-up shop, friendship wristbands are just a small selection of what we have spent the week doing. We have chosen a number of topics that will be of interest to those of you who follow afterschool life at Ranum - enjoy your reading.
FYI Reunion programme at the bottom of the page.
First milestone reached
The end of this week marks a milestone in afterschool life. The first profile period is well rounded and the week's lessons have been spent revising, collecting pictures and stories and completing various projects. This also means that we can now get ready for a new and exciting chapter - namely the cultural subject period. And there is a lot to look forward to.
In the coming period, students will learn more about the countries and cultures they have chosen to explore. It is an enriching period that builds the foundations for the cultural journey that many look forward to.
In the playlist below, you can listen to past experiences from different cultural subjects.
Big day for the sailing students
All the sailing students had a last trip on the water on Wednesday, where a lot of great pictures were taken, which you can see an extract of below. We also had Erik Bjerre out covering the sailing news with a video and an article, which we can share with you soon.
News from the four former students
A few weeks ago we were contacted by four girls who were about to embark on a journey around the world. That in itself is exciting to follow, but what makes it even more special is that the girls met here at Ranum. The good news is that they want to tell us about their journey so that we can share it with all of you who are following along.
Halloween hygge
An (un)pleasant week is in sight, and we are preparing ourselves by, among other things, carving heads in pumpkins. Next week, students will also have the opportunity to visit our very own haunted house, but more on that later.
New Ranum Podcast
We have been in the studio and recorded the first Ranum Podcast. It's a brand new format for us that will bring listeners closer to afterschool life. What's going on among the students? We get up close and personal, and all content and editing is done by the students themselves. The podcast will eventually be released on Itunes, Spotify and other places where you can download podcasts. Initially, we'll share it on our YouTube channel, which you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/user/Ranumefterskole
Pop-up shop with climate-friendly purpose
A few times a week our pop-up shop opens, where you can buy second-hand clothes and other Ranum merchandise. All the money from this goes to offset our Co2 footprint. The money is sent to something called Carbon Footprint, which uses it to plant trees.
Reunion day Saturday
Tomorrow, about 30 10-year celebrants will visit their old school. They will have a nice lunch in the Kærhuset, conjure up nostalgic images in their minds and have the chance to experience the school again.
