06 Dec Culture and Performance Day, Exams and P3 Elections
Dear reader,
It's Christmas time, and the atmosphere is spreading at school. We are well into December and there have already been a number of Christmas activities. Rooms are spick and span (some more than others), the Christmas calendar is running and we are doing everything we can to get into the spirit.
We are ready with another newsletter from Ranum, which takes you through the week that has passed. We'll be talking about the weekend's Culture and Performance Day, which went brilliantly by the way, choosing profile subject trips for the final term and a little chat about term exams.
Follow our Christmas calendar
On Facebook we share a new episode of our Christmas calendar every day, You can see both the upcoming and previous episodes on our Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/ranumefterskole/
71.654 Thank you!
I'm sure many of you reading this were at Culture and Performance Day on Saturday. You can pat yourselves, and your child, lovingly on the back, because you have done brilliantly. The Christmas market raised a whopping 71,654 DKK, which we can now pass on to the good causes and support work we do with our partners and schools. It's a huge sum that will make an even bigger difference to so many people, and on our own behalf and theirs, we'd like to say thank you very, very much.
Hopefully you also saw the musical that the students had prepared and rehearsed. It's amazing what you can achieve in just four days, and the show is a shining example that with hard work, a good dose of determination and the courage to perform, you can move mountains. It takes a lot of people to get a show like this off the ground, and when it's all up and running, it's worth it.
If you didn't get the chance on Saturday, you can check it out here, because we've recorded and edited the musical together, of course. It's coming here.
And we have a small premium on a mini documentary, which the media team is behind. You should also watch it if you want to go behind the scenes of Imagination Week and add a little extra cheer to your Friday. Kudos to Rasmus Stoltenberg, who has performed feats of strength in the editing room (the Mac lab) to get the documentary done.
REC Podcast Episode 2
There's news on the podcast front, and students are once again taking the temperature of various relevant teams around afterschool life.
This week they have a visit from Trainee Frederik Schmidt, a former student at Ranum. Hear what he has to say here.
Choice of profile subjects
We ask students what they dream about three times a year. What they want to experience and what they want to become good at. And we take great pride in just that, that they have to choose and not least opt out. It can be a difficult process, but it's the one that shapes the school. Some profile subjects don't come about because there's not enough support for them, and that's where the democratic process lies.
This process is well underway and most students have now chosen what they want their final profile period to include. On Thursday, a workshop was held in the Multihallen, where all the students gathered to hear about what the different profile subjects can contain.
Below you can see what they choose between.

The first term tests are underway
It's that time of year when students have to take their final exams. Today, the international midterms have started and the first to go is IGCSE English.
That's all for this week. Tonight the students are having a party in Haverslev, and we hope it will be a memorable evening for everyone. The theme is said to be uniforms, so maybe there will be a single Santa Claus and a Christmas elf?
Next week term exams continue, so time must be spent preparing. In addition, there is the Lucia parade on Friday and this weekend we will have a well-deserved wellness weekend, so we can hopefully relax and recharge our batteries with some well-being.
