05 Nov student reunion day, Find Bob & Model UN
Dear reader,
efterskole week is slowly moving into the weekend, which this week is titled Diving Weekend. But before we get that far, let's take a look at what we've collected of good times and stories during the week that's almost over.
Among other things, we have a well-attended reunion day, a trip to Thisted to participate in Model UN, a great start to profile subjects and then we can not get around the dense and beautiful fog we have had. You will also see pictures of it.
And with that said, it only remains to welcome another newsletter here from Ranum. Enjoy reading!
Reunion day
Reunion Day and reunion joy are inextricably linked, and both were triggered last weekend when some 520 "old" students visited Ranum. The ballroom was packed, and there were students from many different years - of course, with most from last year.
Memories filled in the hallways and classrooms when students returned to Ranum and relived the spirit and atmosphere of the place. Enjoy a few photos below from the reunion day.
thank you all who came and visited us on the reunion day.
Who is Bob and why do we need to find him?
First, we must say that Bob is not a student who has been lost. We've had to explain that a few times, so at least we're clear.
Bob is a small figure from India. He's actually the symbol of an Indian god that Nigel - the graphic designer here - brought back from a trip. Sometimes Bob mysteriously disappears, and when he does, the competition starts. The simple task is to find him, hide him again and post a picture of him for the next person to find. The last person to hide him when the time is up wins a prize.
Students scurried around the corridors in an effort to find Bob, and there were several who found him many times, but unfortunately were not the last to hide him again.
Model UN
A group of students have spent the last few days in Thisted with French teacher Luke, and what they have done, they tell themselves below.
“Here we are assembled in our conference garb. 25 delegates from Ranum Efterskole visiting Struer for a Model UN conference, meeting and debating with young people from other schools. It can be fun participating in Model UN, though demanding at times. We are enjoying 3 days of fruitful debates and good fellowship”
New profile subjects - new friends and experiences
We have again rotated the profile and culture subject periods, so instead of starting culture subjects we have a profile subject period again. The culture subject is later in the year in the hope of having more travel destinations. If you are a student or parent and would like to read more about this, there is a notice on the School Curriculum.
Professional horse riding came on horseback for the first time and was blessed with the most beautiful autumn weather.
Media seized the chance to take amazing pictures in unique conditions. Fog! Several professional photographers today use filters that give this effect, so it was both lucky and exciting to get to play with compositions in the beautiful fog.
Now it's getting a little nerdy, but also pretty cool. A couple of teachers have started a profile class called LEGO Mindstorm. If you haven't heard of it before, that's okay, but it's all about building robots with LEGO that can perform different tasks. They need to be programmed, of course, and that's where the nerdy part comes in. Three Lego robot-building teams have now been assembled for a competition in Aalborg, where the nerdiness will be put to the test at a high level. We are of course cheering on our team, and at lunch today it was mentioned by Natasha, one of the teachers involved, that the teams have a pretty good chance. The competition is on Saturday next week and you'll be hearing more about how it goes.

Then you've reached the end of this week's newsletter. Well done! Even though it's getting darker and darker outside, there's still a lot of efterskole life to be found here on site. We are moving in more and more, getting out blankets and cosying up in the rooms.
