19 Sep Vilsted Lake Run, Live Music, Inspiring Talk, and Global Feast
Dear reader,
The Vilsted Lake Run set a new record for participation, and our Family Day was a massive success with over 1850 attendees. The week started with a fantastic talk by Mizz Privileze, followed by a concert by Patina that was out of this world. Our International Evening was a global celebration! We sampled food, danced to music, and explored cultures from over 20 countries without leaving campus. It was a true testament to our school's diversity. At Ranum Efterskole, we're always expanding our horizons.
Happy reading & weekend.

Mizz Privileze
Mizz Privileze came and gave the talk "I have the right to be me" to students about his personal story of growing up as an LGBT+ person in Denmark and the challenges (and solutions) that still exist for many young people who break gender and sexuality norms. Read more here.
"Mizz Privileze (de/dem) is Denmark's norm-critical drag queen and best known from TV2's 'Danmark har talent', where they both got the gold buzzer and reached the final as the first drag queen in the world. In 2020, Mizz Privileze was nominated for Drag of the Year and LGBT+ Person of the Year and has been nominated for a total of 8 different awards. The dragtivist is also known for being one of the founders of the Live and Let Live movement, which works to stop hate crimes against LGBTQI+ people." - Mizz Privileze / Michael Bjerring
Concert with Patina
The band that is in the same club as The Minds of 99, Benal, Magtens Korridorer, Johnny Deluxe, Marie Key and Djämes Braun - won the talent programme Karrierekanonen in 2019.
With the massive success of their song "Flammer Rammer", which was the most played song on P3 in 2020, it's hard not to have heard the band's music before.
With a mix of new and old tunes, the band got the students to party, and several times they stood arm in arm and enjoyed the music.
International evening
Competition in Media profile subjects
In the profile subject "media", the students were asked to create an article using the Adobe programmes InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. The project ended with a small competition where the students had to present and argue in favour of their designs.
Headmaster's column
Dear reader,
Vilsted Sø Løbet broke all records for participation and the Family Day attracted over 1850 participants, so the community gatherings and activities were packed. The week started with a fantastic lecture by Mizz Privileze and in the evening Patina played a fantastic concert that put music in the community.
The international evening with tastings, music and films from over 25 countries gathered the students around the school's cultural diversity, emphasising that Ranum is Denmark's most international efterskole with the greatest cultural diversity. It fills the efterskole life with so many new experiences and inspiration for how life can be shaped.
The week ended on Thursday with an assembly on Sustainability, as a prelude to choosing Culture subjects at the end of October. We are looking forward to the coming week, where we have Efterskolernes Day next Sunday.
We open for visitors at 10am because there is so much to hear about and experience. There are regular presentations about the school's values and international profile, as well as the opportunity to see dance performances and visit exhibitions for profile and cultural subjects. Students will show you around the school and refreshments will be available throughout the day. Visitors should expect to spend between 2-3 hours experiencing efterskolelivet, so we don't finish until 17:00. If you're planning to visit us, you're welcome to make a booking. Sign up here. Tell your friends, neighbours, colleagues, etc.
