11 Apr Spring weather is rubbing off in Ranum
Dear all,
Everyday life in Ranum is starting to settle down again. But that doesn't mean we've come to a complete standstill. On the contrary, it's been a week filled with different experiences - both during and after school.
It has been a week full of experiences, impressions and budding spring energy here at Ranum. Our students have been out in the world and brought the world home with them - from culture shock in Spain to beautiful spring evenings with ball games and fellowship in the school's green spaces. There have been performances, French tests, creative projects and exchanges across borders and disciplines.
As we move towards rehearsals and preparations for Family and Cultural Studies Day, we also sense a growing maturity and cohesion among students. In this newsletter, you can read more about the week's highlights - both big and small - and get an insight into the everyday life that is taking shape here in the spring sunshine.
We wish everyone a very good weekend.
Spanish exchange
The exchange in Spain has been a great experience for our 10 classes. They have gained an insight into the Spanish culture, where classes don't start until 9.30am, lunch is eaten around 3pm and dinner is eaten first. It has been a bit of a culture shock for our students, but they have also enjoyed the experience. At the school in Mesia, our students were welcomed and quickly became the centre of attention. At the school, our students participated in Spanish and English classes, which gave them the opportunity to use the language in a different context than just the classroom.

Spring weather over Ranum
The sun has been high above Ranum for the past few days, and its warmth has created a fantastic spring atmosphere that the students have really taken advantage of.
After long school days, they have gathered on the beautiful football pitch where ball games have taken over.
With lots of music in the background and genuine laughter, the evenings have taken on life and soul.
It has been a real pleasure to see how the students have created a community together outdoors, enjoying each other's company under the open sky.

Wednesday afternoon performance
CUT! gave the students a show of humour on Wednesday, with room for everyone. The show conveyed to the students how humour can bring us together or give us something to talk about. That it's important to do something and try something to make the world a better place.
Many thanks to the talented students from FGU Aarhus who, with great creativity and musical talent, performed the show for the students.

French DELF test
The DELF exams are now over. It has been an exciting process in the weeks leading up to them with engaged students and a great atmosphere. The results are not yet in, but let's keep our fingers crossed in the hope that the students will soon be in possession of a great certificate!
What is DELF?
DELF stands for Diplôme d'études en langue française - Diploma in French Language Studies. The diploma documents the student's competences in the key knowledge and skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking and interaction. The DELF diploma is issued by the French Ministry of Education and is internationally recognised. Once obtained, the diploma is valid for life.
Why do we offer DELF at Ranum Efterskole College?
We find that DELF fulfils two needs. Firstly, DELF allows enthusiastic and motivated learners to excel while encouraging them to further master the French language. Secondly, DELF allows learners from French or French-speaking backgrounds to approach this part of their cultural heritage. DELF at level B1 gives access to French universities under the ERASMUS exchange programme.
We offer DELF at three levels: A1 (beginner), A2 (intermediate) and B1 (threshold). The exam costs are paid by the school. As the preparation for the DELF exam is fully integrated into the regular classes, students do not need to fear an increased workload. The DELF exam is divided into two parts: an individual oral proficiency test and a joint test in the remaining language disciplines.

The project class presents
After the Cultural Journeys, the project class was tasked with producing and presenting a poster series from their trip. In addition, they also wrote a longer report in English about the country and brought a third form of communication to their presentation. This included creating VR experiences, videos, smells and materials collected on the trip.
The students were super engaged in showing each other their results - definitely a morning filled with a great atmosphere.

Thank you to the interns!
We have said goodbye to our 2 interns, Abdullah and Yousef. They have been here since the beginning of January until the beginning of April. They have been working with Social Media, as you may have seen. We wish them the best of luck on their further studies, which is Marketing Management. Thank you for choosing Ranum Efterskole College as your internship centre. Again in January we are looking for interns. If you are studying at UCN in Aalborg, within marketing, you are very welcome to write to rb@ranumefterskole.dk.

Headmaster's column
Dear reader,
Finally, the spring warmth broke through and the pupils have flown out onto the lawns for socialising, roundball, football and walks in the woods and to the lake. Several evenings there have been sunset trips to Rønbjerg and it's great to see everything turning green and sprouting. Fortunately, so are the students because the jet lag and travel fatigue have eased and I sense a maturity that has settled in the community. The young people have many great stories to share and they listen to each other. We are preparing for the Family and Cultural Studies Day on 27 April, where the students of the different cultural subjects share their experiences and lessons from their journey with parents and siblings. It's a really nice day, which also includes tastings for the families.
This week the international exams started in earnest and the Danish students are also preparing for their upcoming exams. It comes as a bit of a surprise to some students that the "seriousness" has come so close, so quickly. We tell them that they are not taking the test for the sake of it, but for their experience and maturity in meeting demands and expectations. We hope that both parents and others around the young people, especially in year 10, will help us maintain this. Tests are a fact of life in young people's later schooling, and many need to become more robust and confident. We help them with that. If things go wrong, we also have a great offer of exam/test preparation in an experienced team.
Have a great weekend!
