Dear reader!
The week has simply flown by for everyone, with classes, profile subjects, club activities and especially preparations for the upcoming weekend with Parents' Day on Saturday and Open House on Sunday. In the profile subjects, students have been preparing for the activity day on Saturday. Design has produced a fantastic creative and beautiful chair exhibition. Adventure have been on the adventure race over 24 hours and returned home very tired and dirty this evening.
Sailing spent the day sailing to Livø and the divers have turned their room upside down to look like an ocean. Music played loudly for the whole school, while the dancers worked intensely on their own choreography. In media, the printers have not stood still for the creative graphics to be off the screen and onto the walls. Gastronomy has been working hard to prepare for the big barbecue on Saturday, with more than 130 parents and siblings signed up. The horse girls have spent Friday on an excursion to their guest teacher Poul Hove in Thisted.
The divers were last weekend on a diving weekend and more than 60 divers passed their first Padi OW tests in the pool, they were thoroughly tired afterwards and it has been for several a little tough week.
On Monday evening, the new gym in Kærhuset was inaugurated. It is now twice as big as the old one, has new carpets and several new machines. On Wednesday the whole school gathered around the first local showdown in Floorball between RE and IK-Vest floorball ( the local team) although we did not win the game we won in high spirits and energy. Especially the RE cheerleading team provided a great show and atmosphere during the break.
This weekend we hold parent-teacher conferences on Saturday mornings and in the afternoons there are activities in the profile subjects. We start the day at 9am and finish at 4pm. There will be an information point at the banquet hall and refreshments in the canteen. At 10 and 11 there are presentations on the upcoming cultural and profile subjects for the 2nd term in the banquet hall and in the Goldhorn hall there is an offer of student guidance.
Sunday we hold Open House - Afterschool Day from 13.-17. and all students are involved in either showing off their subjects and profile activities, showing around or providing refreshments. In Kærhuset, the dining hall is transformed into a fair and gastronomy makes wok-restaurant. Adventure is active on the lawn and in the martial arts hall you can experience circus training, and martial arts. In the banquet hall, we talk about the school's values, academic offerings and profile subjects every hour. We start at 1 pm in the banquet hall with a short welcome. Come in good time!
In the coming week we participate in the nationwide Science Festival. Students can take part in an invention competition to move a 30×30 cm box 4 metres. Chef Lars Jeppesen and the gastronomy team are working on molecular gastronomy, and on Tuesday there is a star tour. The physics and chemistry teachers try their hand at a talk on light and colour every day at 12pm ii the banquet hall.
Thursday is the return day at 14.30 - and afterwards we have a development day for the staff.
Pedagogical we have had a wonderful week. The students are busy with lots of projects and school work. They are tired and on Wednesday morning several did not come for morning exercise, this was managed with 10 laps around the school and as it was raining it was very motivating to join in the next day.
We look forward to seeing many of you at Parents' Day and at the Open House on Sunday. Bring your neighbours and friends, there is so much to experience at Ranum Efterskole!
Best regards and have a great weekend!
