Dear reader!
Spring has sprung and outdoor life really kicks off in the bright afternoon and evening hours. Rock city is being played on the pitch and skating around the whole school. In the hardball hall, about 40 pupils are still busy, and in PE lessons, training for the big Herring Race in Nibe has started in earnest. The goal is that about 250 pupils and staff will take part and ensure that RE again takes the prize for most participants from the same place. The wedding weekend was a huge success. There was both a bachelor party for girls and boys on Friday evening, and on Saturday the wedding ceremony was held in a beautifully decorated ballroom, where the subsequent gala dinner with a 3-course menu and a fantastic wedding cake will go down in RE history. The many different profile subjects flowers too - and the excitement of preparations for the upcoming expeditions is steadily rising. In the new profile subject cheerleading, we have hired two exciting and talented guest teachers who will also participate in the expedition to LA. In drama, we have also hired a professional instructor and the team is now planning an expedition to London. The sailing and diving teams are immersed in nautical charts and theory books for the next few weeks before the theoretical and practical tests.
In Street performance, students are finalising their beautifully decorated longboards and skateboards. And work is also underway to set up a mobile parkour court for display on expeditions around the country. In dance and music, preparations for the New York trip are also in place and the programme will surpass all previous years in intensity. The gastronomy team and the equestrian team have joined forces and are heading to the culinary south of Spain and a Spanish riding school.
Most of the profile subject teams have sent out the Profile subject and travel info letter and in this context it is important that you parents / students are aware that the school has changed the account number for the payment of the co-payment for the trip.

In the past week all the academic subjects have been busy. All students have received their OSO and Project reports and grades. On Tuesday evening, Hannah played a wonderful quiet concert at the Imagination Loft, where the students flowed into a new and exciting musical universe. On Thursday evening we held our first charity dinner in the Nepal Friendship Association of Ranum Efterskole and with around 60 guests at the dinner and subsequent talk about the trips to Nepal, India and Ghana, it must be considered a great success. The proceeds from the event will go to the friendship school in Nepal. After the performance there was a short general meeting of the association and a new reunion trip was announced for July. Interested students and parents can email the undersigned for further information.
Today, Friday, more than 200 students are warming up for their 4th student party outside the school and over 25 parents are attending to ensure a good party. We are aware that more people associate Ranum Efterskole with these parties, but they are private parties outside the school, and yet we would like to offer that the students eat and drive together from the school, so that the evening begins well and safely. The theme is UV party and I think the students are still luminescent on Monday. If parents or others have any questions about the party and the volunteer Parent Council, please email fr@ranumefterskole.dk.

Pedagogical it's been a real spring week, as mentioned in the introduction, and even though it's not quite summer yet, we can feel the students moving out in the evenings. We have also noticed that a small group are still having problems with pulling away and we suspect this is for contraband. We are following up closely and at this time of year, when the firm rules and framework are experienced by more people, we expect the freedom bubbles in the spring not to go up in smoke - so the pupil goes home 🙂
On Tuesday night or Tuesday morning, a bag containing cameras and video cameras of considerable value was stolen. For the first time in several school years, we asked all students to go to their room and then went through the WHOLE school and all rooms - without finding the cameras. This is just annoying and as there have unfortunately been problems with art thieves in several schools we have handed the case over to the police.

The school year is now 3/4 over and there are some important changes in the calendar. The new annual calendar can be found under the Education tab, and it is important to note that there is NO Parents' Day on 30 March.
The Open House has also been moved to 13 May, when we have joined forces with all the other Himmerland afterschools to hold an Open House.

This coming week, we will first be following up on interviews with new students on Sunday morning and afternoon. At 2pm there will be a tour for future students and a presentation on the school's values and profile.
Monday to Wednesday there are profile subjects and on Thursday all pupils will see Ranum School's annual musical and drama performance. The gastronomy team goes on a very well-deserved excursion to the Foodfaire fair in Herning, together with the school's kitchen staff. Thursday afternoon is also a contact group day and time to reflect on the last experiences and time to rejoice. The following weekend is the "diving weekend" where all the divers will have pool tests in the swimming pool.

Yours sincerely and have a great weekend

Olav Storm
