Cultural profile 2022Dancing our way through the USA: a world of experiences
Do you love dancing, glamour and a busy life? Then choose the cultural profile Dance, Washington and New York if you're ready for a cultural blast in two of America's coolest cities!
The Lessons
The teaching will be based on dance, and we will therefore learn several different dance styles and the history behind them. We will also learn choreography that we will dance in Central Prak and Times Square.
In addition, we will learn about the history of New York and Washington, and why these two cities are so interesting to look at when it comes to dance.
The trip
We start in New York, and will later drive down to Washington D.C.
New York
In NYC we will attend dance classes at one of these studios: Fred Astarie Dance Studios, Broadway Dance Center or Alvin Ailey American Dance Center & School.
We'll go sightseeing and see the Brooklyn Bridge, the Ground Zero 9/11 Memorial, Times Square, the Empire State Building, Central Park - and maybe a trip to Ellis Island to see the view from the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island.
In Central Park and Times Square we will perform a dance that we have practiced in classes at school. Many of you would like to experience an outlet, so we are taking a trip to Woodbury Common Premium Outlets.
When you are in New York, you have to see a Broadway show - the plan is that we will see one or two different musicals. We will also try to see if we can get tickets so we can be the live audience of a TV show, it could be "Live with Kelly and Ryan", "Good morning America", "Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon" or maybe "Today".
You will have the experience to eat at "Planet Hollywood" and maybe have a milkshake at "Ellen's star dust diner", which is one of the best themed restaurants in New York because of the singing staff, some of whom end up on Broadway.
Washington D.C.
In Washington we will go sightseeing, where we will see the White House, the Vietnam War Memorial, the Abraham Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the National World War 1 Memorial, the Washington Monument and a trip to Arlington Cemetery.
We will also visit the National Mall, where you can go to a museum of your choice.
If you have any ideas, we will try to incorporate them into the programme.
