16 Dec Lucia parade, snow, Asian Cooking and wild plans!
Dear Reader,
We at Ranum Efterskole have been hit by a few things this week. First came the anticipation of what might happen in our last week before Christmas. Then the snow came, bringing with it snowmen, snowballs and snow angels. Finally came the sickness, which has currently sent about 1/5th of our students home. Read about all this, and more, in this week's newsletter. Welcome to.
Lucia parade
Christmas is a time of joy and celebration, and here at Ranum we are happy to honour the tradition with Santa Lucia. Santa Lucia, also known as Saint Lucy, was a Christian martyr who was known for her generosity and kindness. She is often associated with the winter solstice and with bringing light to the dark winter months. When we gather to celebrate Santa Lucia, we remember the spirit of giving and the warmth of community. Here at Ranum, we are grateful for the opportunity to come together and share this special Christmas tradition.

Snow, snow, snow
The snow has arrived in Ranum, bringing with it one of Denmark's most beautiful landscapes. Enjoy the beautiful pictures.
You can follow our snow adventures every day on our stories on Facebook and Instagram. On Facebook, you can also follow our Christmas calendar Ranum's Christmas Spirit, where a new episode is posted every night.
The ski trip is approaching
Our joint ski trip to Sweden is fast approaching and we are looking forward to 5 great days in the snow. We have a total of 470 students who will join us on this adventure on the slopes.
The ski trip will take place in January and we will stay at Stoten Ski Resort in Sweden. This resort is known for its beautiful, snow-covered slopes and its world-class skiing, We are sure that the students will have a fantastic experience. We will take care of all the practical arrangements. so all you need to do is make sure your packing lists, ski gear and passports are up to date.
We look forward to hitting the slopes and enjoying the winter season in Sweden. This is sure to be a trip that neither of us will forget and we look forward to making some amazing memories together.
You can re-watch the video from last year's ski trip below:
Ps dear ski parents: Matt has sent an email with practical information about the ski trip on the School Plan. Here you can read about travel times, the packing list and the programme for the trip.
On a cultural tour to Prague!
While the 470 or so students are on a ski trip, the remaining students have chosen Prague. The team gathered at the beginning of the week for a short presentation of the programme and content of the Winter City Trip. There is both fine culture with opera, castle and museum visits, as well as a theme on the 2nd World War. World War II and the Cold War period. The week ends with youth and underground culture, including a school visit before finishing with a medieval themed evening deep in a cellar under inner Prague. We're looking forward to it!
For both ski tour and Prague students, it is important that passports and their expiry dates are checked.
Last Asian Cooking lesson
On Wednesday, asian cooking had its last elective lesson of the year. It was celebrated with beautiful dishes and good atmosphere - enjoy the nice pictures, all dishes are made by the students themselves.
Illness among pupils
Currently, about 1/5 of the school's students are home due to illness. We encourage all parents and students to be aware of symptoms and to go home in good order if the illness strikes. Remember to always call the emergency phone (no: 9666 4400) if your child is sick and needs to (stay) home.
We look forward to next week
Before we all go on Christmas break next Thursday, a couple of the year's biggest traditions need to be kicked off. You can find a short overview of next week's events here:

- Christmas Ball - celebrated on the evening after Harry Potter Day, is our fun evening with the students, filled with socialising, partying and good food
- Christmas cleaning - we can't avoid, and will be arranged on Thursday before the year's:
