21 Dec Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Thank you for a fantastic first semester, time flies and we can look back on a great start to the school year.
Dear reader,
2016 has been an adventurous year at Ranum Efterskole College, where students and staff created a unique community around teaching, profile subjects and cultural subjects, as well as travels to countries and cultures around the world.
The school's values have been strengthened and together we have shaped an exciting school with great diversity, high academic standards and global camaraderie.
This summer we inaugurated the new Lien House, where 20 students now live and thrive. We also started the International Summer School for both Danish and foreign young people who want to learn English, maths and science while doing a range of exciting profile subjects and excursions.
There is a lot to look forward to in the coming spring, first of all the cultural trips in January, the new profile courses in February-May and the last travel week in April.
We find that students want each other and look forward to building a strong community with you for the rest of the school year.
On behalf of all staff and the Board, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Christmas cheer and holiday time
December is a time of surprises and fun. At Ranum Efterskole College we have had a visit from Santa Claus, experienced Christmas lights, and the teachers made a night end with apple pies and mulled wine in the school yard.
The Christmas room competition ended in style and the winning rooms have gone all out to create a fantastic Christmas atmosphere at the school.
Sunday we distributed Christmas cards and the REC calendar to all households in Ranum. In the evening we invited author, researcher and coach Søren Lynge to motivate the students to develop their positive thinking. The students were captivated by a very charismatic and clear personality and the message hit home.
Tuesday afternoon we held the traditional Chief Ball Tournament or Big Chief Ball Turnement in REC-Danglish. The theme for the teams was Movie Stars and for the second year in a row the Peter Pan team with contact teacher Mathias Kjær Ratmann won.
In the evening, the kitchen served the classic Danish Christmas lunch (without alcohol) and afterwards we all went to the Christmas service in Ranum church.
In the church, the choir and two contact groups sang together with the students and it was a wonderful evening for all.
Just as the pupils had gone to bed, Christmas carols were played and danced around the Tree of Life in the school yard. It was very cosy with apple slices and mulled wine.
It was a bit cold, though, so many soon jumped back into bed.
Wednesday there was a Christmas end for all students with a nice visit from Santa Claus. In the last assembly we could run the Christmas rooms of the year and we sang for the last time Christmas in Ranum Town, which was written by the students themselves.
The assembly ended with the Tree of Life and then the students danced around the school to "It's Christmas again" and gathered in the school yard, where they managed to summon Santa Claus pulled by his industrious reindeer. The elf girls generously handed out sweets to the sweet teenagers and Santa wished everyone a happy and polite Christmas holiday.
Finally, our students will say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in 41 different languages and dialects!
Today we have sent all the students home for the Christmas holidays. The students have received a Christmas card and a REC calendar 2017, or it is waiting for them after the holidays.
The school will be closed for Christmas from 22 December to 2 January at 6 pm. The office will answer your mail on 27-28 December.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
