15 Mar Excursion to salt centre, fire drills & countdown to Easter
Dear reader,
At Ranum Efterskole College, we love new challenges that we can laugh and learn from together. It would be a shame to say that we were not challenged throughout the week. Among other things, we have been on an excursion to Mariager Salt Centre, a boatyard in Aalborg and fought small fires with professional supervision. However, we shouldn't forget the quieter moments that we have made sure to make room for in the exciting everyday life in Ranum. Read about these fantastic events and much more in this week's newsletter!

Mariager Salt Centre
Gastronomy has donned their orange vests and blue helmets. On Wednesday, they headed off to Dansk Salt & Mariager Salt Centre, where they got up close and personal with the creation of the southern salt. An exciting excursion that gave the students even more insight into the world of gastronomy.
Boatyard in Aalborg
Skills Sejlads visited an exciting boatyard in Aalborg on Tuesday. Here, the students were enriched with new knowledge about boat building. The Danish Navy's The Swan and Thyra was undergoing renovation, as well as 2 of the Royal Ship's boats.
We fight fires!
On Monday, our P3 sailors were given a demonstration of what to do in the event of a fire. The cool young people were given the opportunity to put out small fires themselves, so they know exactly what to do if they encounter fires in their daily lives.
Countdown to Easter
At Kær- og Ranumhus, we are preparing for the Easter Bunny's visit. Easter is just around the corner, and so the students provide encouraging decorations and beautiful homemade Easter letters for each other and their loved ones. This was a great success, with snacks and delicious food served alongside the egg-blowing and the many cut-out letters.
The commemorative shirts are ready to print!
The last signatures for the students' commemorative shirts have now been collected. We look forward to seeing the students spread the joy of being part of Ranum Efterskole College by wearing the finest commemorative jersey for many years to come, as a reminder of the experiences and development they have had together.
Welcome to the social media crew
Our SoMe Crew is now back, consisting of mega cool students from Ranum Efterskole College. And they have returned in style! Headmaster's column
On Monday, a group of family and friends visited their cancer-stricken friend, Rasmus Rask, at his home. On Tuesday morning, everyone gathered in the banqueting hall and the flag was flown at half-mast as life ebbed away for their friend. "It's incredibly difficult and incomprehensible to realise that life can end so early. It has affected us all deeply and our thoughts are with Rasmus' family and closest friends, who will have to carry the loss and grief for the rest of their lives.
We have held a memorial service on Thursday and in the world space, the students have had the opportunity to have conversations with adults and our pastor. We have made a memorial book and a memorial shirt especially for Rasmus with everyone's names around the tree of life. On Saturday, several students and staff will attend the funeral. We are at a loss for words, but at the same time we can feel that it was good that Rasmus, despite the cancer, started at Ranum and realised his dream of experiencing the efterskole life. Honour the memory of Rasmus Rask.
The upcoming weekend is extended, and students who are at home will not return until Monday evening.
