The adventure is almost over

Dear reader,

This week we have been on our final profile subject trip for 23-24. We have experienced much of Europe and Hong Kong, where students have challenged themselves and experienced new cultures. From the bustling streets of Hong Kong to the idyllic beaches of Crete, they have had an unforgettable week full of learning and experiences. The profile subject trips are not a beach holiday, but a journey where the goal is for students to experience greater responsibility and independence. The speciality trips are also about Learn and grow. The students have had the opportunity to put theory into practice and test the skills they have learnt in their profile subjects. The students have learnt and tested: Asian Cooking, Cosmetics, Ceramics, Climbing, Scuba Diving, Extreme Skiing, Gastronomy, Myths and Legends, Padel Tennis, Sailing, Skateboarding and Surfing.

Here you'll get a little insight into each journey. We round off with our headmaster's column. We hope you enjoy.

Headmaster's column

Dear reader,

I'm on a sailing trip in Greece with 78 students and 22 adult skippers and co-skippers. For one week, the rhythm and routine of everyday life is replaced by constant change, new roles and lots of sailing experiences. It is fascinating that the change of scene brings the students and us adults on the 11 boats into a very close and practical interaction about the ship, navigation, sailing, provisioning, cooking and cleaning. The students step into the roles of skippers, navigators and trimmers etc. We adults step back and give them a safe framework to take the helm and guide each other safely to the next harbour. The goal of all the trips is for the students to experience greater responsibility and independence, as well as contribute to managing the freedom of the community. We end the journey with a visit to the Acropolis and we look forward to returning home and sharing sailor's tales with the other travelling teams.
