Imagination Week & Christmas stalls for all

Dear reader,

This week has been very much about... Yes, exactly. Imagination Week. We're nearly done, but this isn't the last you'll hear about Imagination Week. We usually end the week with a performance show, which this year we have decided to move to Thursday next week. Since we still can't meet, it will be streamed, and more information will be coming soon.

Creative projects from all over the world have been in full swing, with many students busy getting ready to show off their creations - from Christmas decorations to gymnastics shows and videos.

Luckily, SoMe / Documentary documented it all, and during the week we shared videos and photos on Facebook and Instagram. Here in the newsletter we bring you an overview with a few stories and links to read more.

The first feature is about dreams and comes from the SoMe team. Enjoy the read.

Dream portraits

Here's a little teaser for a project the SoMe/Documentary team has been working on. They've made a nice little video, which hasn't been fully finished yet. It takes time to edit when you're ambitious, so for now you can enjoy these portraits. They are in the same theme and mood as the video and it's about dreams. They interpreted Imagination and translated the meaning to dreams and have interviewed and filmed. So look forward to the video.

Christmas Market

The Christmas spirit has been high for the students who chose to Christmas Market. The little fingers have been working hard and are now getting a well-deserved break.

Building project

Construction projects have really taken hold of the wood workshop and built away all week. A lot of great projects have come out of it, too, and you can especially see them out in front of the Mulithallen. A big and beautiful stand for outdoor training has been built here, which we will show off properly when it is completely finished.

Music

In the two music rooms and the stage in the Festival Hall, the music team has been rehearsing songs about dreams all week, which they will play next week for the live show. Some have been learning new instruments and others have been improving on either song or instrument. And of course they have been practising playing together, so the community has been great here too.

Imagination Film

No Imagination Week without a performance. Although it's filmed and not being performed live this time, it's still been an exciting process of script writing, costuming, make up, acting and of course the whole filming and editing part. The film will be finished next week. Again - the level of ambition is high and therefore it takes time to complete.

Here is a little behind the scenes video with the film crew. Three different videos were made, and this one is with the horror group. The others were a comedy and a film they call "Daybreaker", which is a bit harder to place genre-wise.

Podcast/music video

The boys were in the studio to both produce and film for a music video that they are quite proud of. The theme was street life and the inspiration came from British rapper Stormzy. The music video is actually finished, but there are copyright issues we need to work on before it can be shared. It may also need to be censored before it hits the public.

Adventure challenge

The first days of the week were spent enjoying the campfire, hot cocoa and preparing for the long trip. The Adventure Challenge team had to brave wind and weather on a long walk along the West Coast.

By Thursday evening, the students were ready, bags packed and boots laced. The destination is Blokhus, and they are still on their way. We just got the pictures in of Frederik, a SoMe/Documentary student, who was on the first leg, He was tired to say the least, and you can only imagine the challenge the rest of the team is still up to. It will be interesting to hear their story, but for now you can see pictures from the first part of the stunningly beautiful tour here.

Design

If you can imagine it, you can create it. At least that's the mantra and the starting point when you sneak into the design team. Beautiful paintings, jewellery and other creations have been made during the week and there has really been time to immerse oneself in art and design.

Performance Show

The last workshop we will go through is about dance, cheerleading and gymnastics. The three forms of movement are the basis for the performance that will take place next week, and they have been very busy. Right now, Friday afternoon, they are still rehearsing to get ready to show you all the finished result. At Ranum we don't traditionally have a gymnastics show, but this show is getting close, so now it's our turn to show emotion and gestures with different movements.

Visit our Christmas stall

Here's something to make your weekend or Christmas shopping a little easier and tastier. And it even goes to a good cause.

Ranum Efterskole's traditional Christmas market has this year found a corona-friendly form. Support our projects around the world and treat yourself with beautiful decorations, glass art, wooden products, elves etc.

There is open in front of Ranum Efterskole this weekend from Friday the 27th at 1 pm to Sunday the 29th at 7 pm.

Bonus story: Nice respite for children's birthday

Although the week has been mostly about Imagination Week, we also found time for something else: Play. We promised students a big surprise last week, and it was revealed on Wednesday. All the halls of the Multicultural House were filled with bouncy castles and activities, which we gathered under the theme of children's birthday. Here you can watch an atmospheric video from the day, which was really well received by the students. It was obvious that they needed a day where they could tumble and fight, have fun and play.

This week's newsletter was a little longer, but there was also a lot to tell. If you've made it this far - then thousand thanks for reading along.

All the best,

Ranum Efterskole College
