"The best year of my life"

My year at REC has been a total upheaval. I have met a ton of nice people and friends, and I made memories for life. But most importantly I have become closer to myself and have developed extremely my, personality wise. I has without a doubt been the best year of my life and something that will define me as a person.

When I first started at Ranum, I had a picture in my head of how the year would be, but it did not take long for that picture to be completely shattered and forgotten, because a year at Ranum can't be predicted. I have enjoyed every last second and I wish I could turn back time and do it all over again. The friends I have met and the memories I have from this year is something I will carry with me going forward.

As a student coming from a very small town, and also having only attended a very small school earlier, it is definitely an experience for life. You'll arrive at a school with 450 other people and suddenly you have to figure out how to live your everyday life at school. You'll experience other cultures and people who have never heard of an efterskole, and suddenly you have to share a table, classroom and even a room with them.

It was interesting to visit a communistic country, because you couldn't go to a McDonald's or other western shops. Everything is Cuban and also there isn't a lot of stuff - whereas in Miami everything is in mega size and a lot of wealth is on display. In Havana the Cuban music is everywhere and creates a fantastic energy in the city.

We feel that REC provided a safe environment, and at the same time allowed our children to try many new things, learn new skills mature, develop their social skills and at the same time continue to develop their academic skills. Fantastic. Everyone is extremely professional and you can always get an answer if you have any questions. Or be reassured if you are worried about something. Ranum takes the students and the parents very serious. As the year 19/20 escalated, the staff at Ranum handled the situation with top marks, and when the students were allowed back, everyone at school was ready and followed all guide lines. It has been a pleasure to be part of the Ranum family, and the school year had a big positive influence on my daughter. Ranum Efterskole College receives my warmest recommendations.

As a parent of two students at Ranum Efterskole, in 2019 and in 2020, I have both times been fully satisfied and trust the staff at Ranum completely. My children have had a lot to deal with during thier efterskole stays, like sorrow and this year of course Covid-19. Ranum has managed to take care of my teenagers, helped them develop, cared for them, pushed them and provided them with more experiences than I could have ever dreamed of doing. The communication from school is a big plus and I always have a feeling of being included in the experiences and trips. Participating in the student parties as a parent is highly recommendable. It is exciting to experience the young people's entry into this colourful world, which the parties is, while at the same time being allowed to have fun, take care of the youngsters and experience these festive evenings. It was safe and pleasant. In my experience, the school has much experience with taking care of young people and a lot of routines, I felt completely safe with.
