Culture SubjectsPANAMA
By joining a trip to Panama, you commit to protecting the country's rich biodiversity and actively engaging in cultural encounters. Panama, located in Central America, is known for its impressive nature, diverse culture and strategic location. The country offers a diverse nature that spans tropical rainforests, coral reefs and mountainous regions, and is home to over 10,000 plant species and a rich wildlife with rare birds, butterflies, tapirs and jaguars. Much of Panama is covered by national parks and protected areas that play a crucial role in biodiversity conservation - an area of focus that the programme will provide a deeper understanding of.
During our stay in Panama, we will compensate for our environmental footprint by participating in waste collection along the coast and in the mountains, supporting small local communities and contributing through other eco-friendly activities. We will also live off-grid with the Guna Yala tribe, where we will have the opportunity to learn about the local culture and experience sustainable living first-hand.
This trip not only provides us with beautiful scenery and fun activities, but also a great volunteering opportunity and a unique insight into the culture and nature of Panama, where we become part of the conservation efforts and community ourselves.
Academic programmes
In class, we will focus on how to live, travel and exist more sustainably. Our first step will be to compensate for the environmental footprint our travelling creates while learning about biodiversity, Panama's history, geography and wildlife. We will also work on language to improve our ability to communicate with locals and build stronger relationships. Part of the programme will include connecting with young people at a local school where we will share experiences and learn from each other.
TRAVEL
On this journey we will experience Panama in depth. In the mountainous area around Santa Fe, we get close to the rainforest and become part of a small local community. We'll meet the mayor, visit the school, go on mountain and rainforest hikes, play football with the locals and much more. This part of the journey
gives us a unique opportunity to become part of the natives' everyday lives as they open their homes and invite us into their lives.
We'll also visit the San Blas archipelago, home to the Guna Yala tribe, and experience a completely different and authentic side of Panama. In addition to this, we'll explore other coastal areas and visit Panama City and see the famous Panama Canal.
